Ralph Lam

123

Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Ralph Lam is currently a rising junior at Phillips Academy Andover from Hong Kong. Ralph enjoys writing about family, culture, and the impact they have on identity; he likes to read his work in front of his plants, they make for a quiet and respectful audience. He also tends to look far too closely into every scene of a movie. Ralph's work has been recognized by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and published in various literary journals. When Ralph isn't sitting at his desk, he is traveling across Hong Kong to encourage younger generations to pick up a pencil and write; he believes that everyone should have access to a platform to express their creative agency.

Executive Prose Editor

Case is a Phillips Academy junior from Tucson, Arizona. He sings and plays guitar for a local punk-rock band called The Turn-Offs. Beyond just music (He’s a huge fan of all things Radiohead and The Residents), Case is passionate about short stories, scripts, and screenplays — he loves poetry too, but don’t tell Elina he said that! Whether to talk rock, 80’s horror movies, DeLillo, bioethics, writing, or anything else, please feel free shoot him an email anytime! (Just don’t ask him how he feels about Cronenberg; unless, that is, you want to get an earful about Videodrome!)

Elina Choi

789

Executive Poetry Editor

Elina is a rising 11th grader at Phillips Academy from Seoul, Korea. She likes to draw, sing, and watch sappy romance movies, as well as writing in her free time. Most of her writing comes from ideas typed up on the Notes app from her phone, and she considers the 13 hour flights from Seoul to school to be the best moments to write. She has recently been writing poetry, portraits, and personal essays, as well as reading the book versions of her favorite movies, arriving at the conclusion that the book is always better than the movie. She joined the Qualia Review team because she loves writing and reading poetry and because she wanted to be able to connect student writers with peers who love writing as much as they do.
